·         This is a clinical diagnosis with minimal or absent ultrasound findings.

·         A retroplacental hematoma may appear echolucent depending upon the age and size of hematoma.

·         A retroplacental hematoma may give the appearance of focal placental thickening.

·         Large retroplacental hematoma may appear as solid or cystic masses.

·         Separation of placental margin may give the edge of the placenta a rounded appearance.

·         Intra-amniotic hemorrhage may give the amniotic fluid a speckled appearance.

·         The fetus may swallow blood, giving rise to an echogenic mass within the stomach and echogenic bowel.
